Mimmo Paladino: Bronze and Iron, Sculpture 1987-2000

19 Feb — 22 Mar 2003

Waddington Galleries are pleased to present an exhibition of sculptures by Mimmo Paladino. Widely regarded as one of Italy's most distinguished living artists, Paladino has been making sculpture since 1982. He came to prominence towards the end of the 1970s, first as a draughtsman, then as a painter leading the way for a new generation of figurative artists. Turning to sculpture, he produced a series of monumental and richly patinated bronzes, which evoke the fragments and traces of ancient civilizations that to this day can be seen in the countryside around the artist's native Benevento, east of Naples.
